Same-Day Glasses in Da Lat: When Your Prescription Can Be Ready Quickly

If your glasses broke on holiday, or you are in Da Lat for only a few days, the practical question is not whether same-day glasses exist but whether your prescription qualifies. The honest answer depends on the lens, not on the shop’s willingness.

What can usually be done quickly

Many common single-vision prescriptions can be completed the same day: lenses in stock are usually ready in about 20–40 minutes, depending on prescription and lens type; progressive, high-index or special lenses may need to be ordered. That typically covers standard myopia correction, mild to moderate astigmatism, and many straightforward reading prescriptions.

What normally takes longer

  • Progressive lenses. These are made to your measurements and fitting height, and are usually ordered rather than stocked.
  • High prescriptions. Strong powers, particularly in high-index materials, are less likely to be in stock in every combination.
  • Specific coating or tint combinations. A particular brand-and-coating pairing may need to be ordered.
  • Prescription sunglasses with a specific tint. Tinting adds a step.

How to plan a short visit

Come in early in your stay rather than on the final afternoon. Bring your current glasses even if they are broken — the frame and lenses still carry usable information. If you have a written prescription, bring it; if not, the eye examination can be done on the spot.

Ask for a specific completion estimate before paying, and ask what happens if the lens turns out not to be in stock. A clear answer to both questions is a reasonable thing to expect anywhere you shop.

A note on rushing

Speed and accuracy are not opposites, but they are not free of each other either. The measurements that matter most for comfort — pupil distance, fitting height for progressives, how the frame sits on your face — take the time they take. If a prescription genuinely cannot be finished well in a day, being told so is better service than being told what you want to hear.

A practical checklist before you come

Same-day work depends on the lens being in stock in your exact power. You can improve the odds:

  • Come in the morning rather than late evening. We are open until 21:00, but a lens cut at 20:30 leaves no margin if something needs redoing.
  • Bring your old glasses. If your prescription has not changed, we can read the existing lenses and skip a step.
  • Be flexible on the frame. Some frame shapes are harder to glaze at short notice than others, particularly deeply curved wrap fronts.
  • Decide the lens on availability first, then on features. A stocked standard-index lens today beats a thinner one that arrives after you have left.

What tends to be in stock

Our standard clear and thin lens lines are the ones most likely to be held: standard lenses from 168,000₫ a pair, thin high-index from 308,000₫. Speciality categories — progressive (from 841,600₫), photochromic (from 662,400₫), driving-optimised (from 720,000₫) and prescription sunglass tints (from 600,000₫) — are more often ordered than stocked, because the combinations of power, index and coating multiply quickly. All prices are for a pair.

If you are only in Da Lat for a few days

The most common travel scenario is broken glasses rather than a new prescription. If the frame is broken but the lenses survived, a frame swap is usually much faster than new lenses, and we hold 452 frames from 480,000₫. Bring the broken pair including any loose pieces — the old lenses can sometimes be re-edged into a new frame.

If a screw has come out or a hinge has loosened, that is a free repair and takes minutes. You do not need an appointment and you do not need to have bought them here.

What we will not rush

We would rather tell you a lens takes three days than hand you something cut in a hurry that gives you headaches. Progressive lenses in particular depend on measurements taken with the chosen frame sitting correctly on your face; rushing that stage is the usual reason people say they “could never get on with varifocals”.

Check availability first

Before making the trip, send your prescription on WhatsApp or Zalo to +84 925 331 668. We can usually tell you within a few minutes whether that exact power is in stock and therefore whether same-day is realistic — which is more useful than arriving and finding out.
